Meet Dr Rebecca Trethowan

Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

I am an empathetic and caring, female Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist who grew up in the local area. Whether your requirements are pregnancy related or gynaecological in nature, I will support you to make informed choices regarding your care that leave you feeling listened to, validated and empowered.

I became hooked on O&G as a specialty after seeing the birth of a baby for the first time as a medical student. The ability to be part of such an important moment fostered my desire to persue O&G training and bring my expertise to regional women.

I completed FRANZCOG training at Tertiary Obstetric Units in Sydney including the Royal Hospital for Women and Westmead Hospital, focusing on high-risk antenatal and complicated obstetric deliveries.

I am a highly-skilled and motivated open and laparoscopic surgeon, with gynaeoncological training at the Royal Hospital for Women.

I hold the academic position of Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong, Graduate School of Medicine. I enjoy training and supervising junior doctors and am a RANZCOG mentor.

When I’m not working, I’m spending time with family and friends and still enjoy lending a hand on the family farm in Cookardinia. I am thrilled to be home providing care to the women of the Riverina.
